Men's Basketball: Battling for Position in the LEC

By Jamie Kohn

Hey Everyone!

Sorry it's been a while since the last entry.  In the meantime, we are of course back from Cali and have been playing a ton of ball back home.  We have definitely had some ups and downs and experienced some adversity of late, but we have battled through it and are still in a good position in the conference.

Our overall record now stands at 14-6.  Unfortunately, we had to endure two tough losses to Rhode Island College and Western Connecticut, both of whom we are fighting with for the top spot in the Little East Conference.  We will get another shot at Western before the regular season is over, and I hope we get another shot at RIC in the LEC tournament, because I am very confident we will get them next time.

Even with those losses though, we have managed to stay tied for second place with a 7-3 record by beating every other conference team we've played, including recent wins over Plymouth State and UMass Boston, whom we beat by 12 this past Saturday.  We stumbled out of the gate a bit and were down in the first half, but we put together some big runs at the end of the first and beginning of the second to put the game away.  As usual,, it was a great team effort - our "bigs" had a huge night, with Broderick Sawyer dropping 16 points on 8-12 shooting and Chris coming up with a big ten rebounds.  Nick Nedwick had another great scoring effort with 22 points.

Well, now we have to try and keep rolling - hopefully over Keene State at home on Tuesday night at  7:30!  Wow, I can't believe we only have five regular-season games left!  This season has really flown by, but there is definitely plenty more basketball to play before it's over!

See you on Tuesday!
