We've finally started to get the wheels to start turning and get a streak going. To be honest, the timing couldn't be any better. We started the week off with a 3-0 victory over the U.S.Coast Guard Academy, where we took advantage of our early chances and drove back to Willi with the 'W'. In the game, Matt Furman, who seems to be unstoppable after coming back from his injury, put two past Coast Guard's keeper and freshman Tommy Vear buried his first chance to get his second game-winning goal of the season. Coast Guard is always a difficult team to play on the road, and we really had to bring our best game to come away with a result like that.
On Saturday, we had a replay of last year's Little East Conference final, in a battle between ourselves and UMass Dartmouth. We made the game a little tougher then it had to be with a lot of missed chances, but we were able to get two outstanding finishes out of Jon DeCasanova and Mike Radlbeck in order to secure a 2-1 conference win. Also, I'd like to give a shout-out to Ryan "bash-bro" McCormack who gave us some big time minutes off the bench by helping us control the midfield.
We picked up a few knocks during the contest, as the Corsairs picked up two red cards. With the knocks came a hefty toll as Aaron Smiles fractured his arm in a harsh challenge. We are not sure as to how long he will be out, but it looks like he will be able to play sooner, rather then later. Get well soon, bud!
Also, the win secures at least a three seed in the upcoming Little East tournament. We have to make sure we win this upcoming Saturday and hope that RIC slips up in order for us to have home field advantage for at least one of the games.
Be sure to come and support us not only this weekend, but also on Wednesday when we host Becker College at 3:30pm down on the turf.
See you all there!
