(the following information is provided by Local President Jim LoMonaco)
By now you may have heard that the ARP Grievance that SEBAC has been pursuing on behalf of the membership has been settled via the Decision of an arbitrator.
In essence the decision acknowledges that the grievant had a claim and to remedy the situation each member of SUOAF (and all Higher Education units) will have the option of buying into either Tier II or Tier IIA, depending upon a member's last date of hire. The deadline for making a decision was determined by the arbitrator to be December 31, 2010.
Text of the decision for your review is on the attached link.
Attached is the Question and Answer document that will be prepared by Dan Livingston, the SEBAC lead negotiator and attorney.
I know that this decision will raise many questions that will require clear and specific answers. They will be questions that are vitally important to each member as they seek to make the proper decision for themselves and their families. Both SEBAC and SUOAF will be looking to get the best possible advice to members regarding this choice in order that all may make a wise decision.
Additional information will be posted as it becomes available.
