Eastern's SUOAF chapter will hold a breakfast meeting on Thursday, September 30, 2010, at 8 a.m. in the Johnson Room of the J. Eugune Smith Library.
This is an opportunity to meet your officers and each other, to learn about your union, to learn about current union issues, to meet the President of the statewide local, Jim LoMonaco. At this meeting, we will be discussing the new evaluation instrument, there will be an economic update, and we will be holding nominations for the Eastern SUOAF Officers.
The SUOAF Constitution states that it needs to happen at a meeting of the membership. So, anyone who wishes to be nominated for positions (President, Vice-President, Treasurer, Secretary, and Trustee) must be nominated at this meeting on the 30th. Self nominations are also accepted. However, nominations by e-mail will not be done. According to the constitution, "to be eligible for office, a member must have been in good standing for the calendar year immediately preceding the election, except in the initial election held in a chapter. No retired member shall be a candidate for office."
Description of offices are available in the SUOAF constitution http://www.easternct.edu/suoaf/documents/SUOAF-AFSCMEConstitution.pdf
There will be a limited menu for the breakfast meeting which will include assorted bagels, cream cheese, butter, jam, assorted muffins, coffee, and teas.
RSVPs are required. Please e-mail Eastern SUOAF Secretary John Bazin at bazinj@easternct.edu by Wednesday, September 22, 2010 at 5 p.m. in order to reserve your spot.
