On April 18-20, 2008, Council 4 of AFSCME held their annual conference in Farmington, CT. At the closing banquet, three of Eastern Connecticut State University's Chapter Members of 2836 (John Bazin, Kevin Gill, and Edith Mavor) received awards of recognition from Council 4 for "recognition of faithful and dedicated service to the labor movement and community." All three received a plaque as well as Official Citations from State Comptroller Nancy Wyman and State Treasurer Denise Nappier. Only four members of Local 2836 were recognized at this year's ceremony from the four campuses and the Eastern Chapter is proud to boast that three honorees came from our campus.
