Willimantic, Conn. - The Women's Center at Eastern Connecticut State University will host Maria Falzone, a comedian and one of the most sought after speakers on safe sex at the college level, from 7-8 p.m. on Oct. 11 in the Student Center's Betty R. Tipton Room.
Falzone builds into her performance messages about body image, self-esteem and other critical topics for young men and women. Her comedy routines are meant to diffuse any possible sense of awkwardness surrounding the idea of safe sex. Alcohol, STDs, communication, relationships and personal responsibility are also covered throughout her comedic lecture.
Falzone reached headliner status in the top comedy clubs throughout the United States and Europe more than 15 years ago, and was invited to perform at the HBO Aspen Comedy Festival, where she met Suzi Landolphi, the creator of "Hot, Sexy and Safer." Landolphi hired and trained Falzone to perform her show. A year later, Falzone created her funny, frank and personal lecture, "Sex Rules!" She also performed standup on ABC, A&E, Showtime and TBS.
