Jennifer McGowan to Present Work at Eastern

Written by Kate Harner

Willimantic, Conn. - Eastern Connecticut State University's English Department will host a poetry reading by Jennifer McGowan at 7 p.m. on Nov. 30 in Room 301 of the Science Building. A book signing and light refreshments will follow the reading. The public is invited. Admission is free.

McGowan, who received her master's degree and doctorate at the University of Wales, has published a book of poetry, "Life in Captivity." Her work ranges from personal to mythological, and carries with it wit, irony and nostalgia. McGowan's poetry has appeared in "Connecticut River Review," "Vermont Literary Review," "Assent" and "The Interpreter's House." In 2012, Aqueduct Press will publish one of her poems in Rose Lemberg's anthology of feminist speculative poetry.
