Willimantic, Conn. - On Dec. 3 at the edge of Patriots Park on Coventry Lake, Eastern Connecticut State University students will be taking the plunge into chilly waters to raise money for the Special Olympics. The "Penguin Plunge" fundraiser will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Transportation will be provided to students who are participating in the fundraiser.
Students or "penguins" can solicit donations from family, friends and local businesses in order to take the plunge. Incentive prizes for money raised along with individual and group awards, will be given in several categories. People who raise between $50-300 will be given a bow tie and a t-shirt.
