Willimantic, Conn. - Eastern Connecticut State University's Center of Community Engagement worked alongside the University's People Helping People student club to organize a book drive on campus. The book dive collected more than 920 books, which will be distributed to Windham school children. Anyone still wishing to donate is welcome to drop off gently used books at the Center for Community Engagement, located in the Wood Support Services Building.
The Center for Community Engagement is responsible for encouraging civic duty on campus and throughout the Eastern community. People Helping People regularly volunteers on campus and informs students on important social issues such as poverty, hunger and education. Eastern students who participate in People Helping People have the opportunity to develop leadership and interpersonal skills.
Twenty Eastern students participated and provided support for the book collection project.
