Registration for COM 460 Special Topics: Non-Fiction Writing from Idea to Publication
Six intensive Saturday Sessions
June 28–August 2, 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, August 9, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. No class on July 5th.
Registration is first-come, first-served.
Learn about the stages of non-fiction writing from idea conception to publication. Using Sports Illustrated stories and books written by Benedict, students will learn how to develop story ideas; conduct interviews; structure a story; develop sound writing habits; and promote a story. Throughout the course, students will see actual story drafts and interview transcripts belonging to the author, as well as engage in role playing and question-and-answer sessions with the author.
Eastern students will be registering through eWeb.
If you are new to Eastern and require assistance, call (860) 465-0206 and ask for Jamie or Nicole during these hours: Monday 12-5 p.m., Tuesday 2-5 p.m., Wednesday 12-5 p.m., Thursday 8-10 a.m. and 2-5 p.m.
Course fees (Tuition and Registration):
Those without a Bachelor’s Degree (state resident): $1312
Those without a Bachelor’s Degree (out of state resident): $1324
Those with a Bachelor’s Degree or above (state resident): $1495
Those with a Bachelor’s Degree or above (out of state resident): $1513
Students wishing to audit must pay the same as for a regular credit course.
For non-matriculated senior citizens, waiver is granted on a space available basis during in-person registration.
