CIT Laptop Loaner Program
To provide a short-term mobile computing solution to be used for presentations and field work at conferences, meetings, and other similar events.
Eligibility
Eastern faculty members who would not otherwise have access to similar technology.
Terms of use
Laptop loans will be at the sole discretion of the CIT Manager or designee. CIT will manage the loan documentation and provide hardware support. Use of the computer is governed by the applicable CSUS, ECSU and CT State Computer Use and information security policies in place at the time of the loan. No personal, private or protected University information is to be stored at any time on any laptop used in this program.
Loan Processes
Upon receipt of a request for loan, the CIT Manager or designee will review the request and determine eligibility and alignment with the program’s mission statement. If those are satisfied, the CIT Manager or designee will verify availability for the requested time period prior to notifying the requestor of any approval. If available, a reservation for the laptop will be created by the CIT Manager or designee immediately. All approvals will be transmitted by the CIT Manager or designee to both the requestor and to all CIT staff members via email.
The CIT Manager or designee will assign a CIT staff member to each loan to ensure the laptop’s readiness prior to the pickup/loan start date and time, in accordance with CIT laptop readiness guidelines.
The designated CIT staff member will be responsible for completing the ECSU Asset Tracking Form and providing orientation for the faculty member at the time of pickup. The orientation will consist of the tasks noted on the CIT Laptop Loaner Check List. The Check List original will be retained by CIT and a copy provided to the faculty member.
Duration of loan
In order to meet the goals of the program using the finite resources available, there must be limitations on the length of time of the loan. Requests should be made as far in advance as possible. The loan period time limit is ten (10) days. Exceptions will be considered, but in no case will the length of the loan exceed fourteen (14) days.
