Located on the northern end of campus across from Hurley Hall, Occum houses 243 men and women in four and six person apartments. Each room has a twin, extra long bed, desk, chair, and a closet/dresser unit for each resident. Each apartment on the 1st and 2nd floors (transfer housing) includes two-person bedrooms, a bathroom, a living area, sink and refrigerator and central heat/air conditioning. Laundry facilities, multi-media room, PC Lab, exercise room and vending machines are also located within the building. Occum Hall residents on the 1st and 2nd floors are required to purchase the Silver Plus $125 meal plan. Smoking is not permitted in any of the residence halls.
Transfer students are assigned based on age and number of credits transferring into Eastern (only those credits known at time of placement can be taken into account). Occum Hall transfer beds are reserved for transfer students who are older than the traditional freshmen and have over 60 credits. Students with less credits may be assigned to these spaces as needed. Once all reserve transfer beds in Occum Hall have been filled, transfers will then be assigned to other upperclassmen halls as spaces are available.
