Honors Department Index

The University Honors Program complements the University’s liberal arts mission by (a) offering academically talented students an avenue to demonstrate excellence in competencies characteristic of liberally educated students, (b) directly contributing to the enrichment of Eastern’s academic climate, and (c) providing standards, curricula and learning approaches that could serve as model educational practices at the University. The Program’s requirements and curriculum are intended to be intellectually challenging, while cultivating awareness and attributes that prepare graduates to become dedicated leaders in their respective communities, exhibiting the highest standards of ethical and intellectual integrity.

Online submission of applications is open now and closes on February 1, 2019, at which point the review of applications will begin. Applicants are required to submit an essay responding to one of the Honors Program essay prompts, and submit recommendation letters from teachers that address the applicant’s academic experience and potential for success in a rigorous University Honors Program.

Application instructions for current freshmen wishing to enter the Honors Program at the start of the sophomore year will be posted here at the beginning of the Spring 2019 semester.  Please check back for updates.
