Who can use the Student Health Service?

The Student Health Service is open to all students — full time, part time and graduate. Both resident and commuter students are welcome. You DO NOT need to be covered by health insurance to be seen in our office. (See section below.) However, you DO need insurance if your situation requires additional medical evaluation off campus such as blood tests or x-rays so we will ask you for your health insurance information when you call or come in for an appointment. Please be sure to have your current health insurance information (name of company, name of the policy holder, ID#, Group # if there is one, and insurance company’s address) with you here at school.

What is the charge for services?

There is no charge for visits with the physician, nurse practitioners, or nurse. However, we do charge small fees for prescribed medications, injections, some diagnostic testing, and women’s gynecological exams. We have some types of birth control available at a very reasonable cost. We do not bill insurance companies directly for any of our services. Currently, HIV testing is offered free of charge year round in our office.
