Refund Policy

A student wishing to withdraw from Eastern must coordinate the withdrawal through the Advising Center. This is important because the date on the withdrawal form filed with the Advising Center becomes the student’s official withdrawal date, which affects the refunding of fees. Tuition, State University fee, University General fee, Student Activity fee, and the balance of housing fees are refundable as follows:


Refund Policies for Full-Time Tuition & Fees
Application Fee: Nonrefundable
Admissions Binder: Nonrefundable $200 (applied to tuition fee)

For Tuition and Fees -  charges are cancelled at the following rates and the student is responsible for paying the balance, if any:

  • Up to but not including the first day of classes – 100% of charges
  • During the first week of class – 90%  of charges
  • During the second week of class - 60% of charges
  • During the third and fourth weeks – 40% of charges
  • After fourth week – no charges are cancelled

Refund Policies for Part-Time Tuition & Fees
Registration Fee – Non-Refundable
Tuition and General Fees -  charges are cancelled at the following rates and the student is responsible for paying the balance, if any

  • Up to and including the first week of classes – 100% of charges
  • During the second week of classes – 60% of charges
  • Third and fourth week of classes – 40% of charges
  • After the fourth week – no charges are cancelled

      
Refund Policies for Summer and Wintersession Course Fees
Registration Fee – Non-Refundable
Extention Fees – refunds will be paid upon withdrawal from the course as follows:
For courses greater than eight weeks in length -  charges are cancelled at the following rates and the student is responsible for paying the balance, if any:

  • During the first week of classes – 100% of charges
  • During the second week of classes – 60% of charges
  • During the third and fourth week – 40% of charges
  • After the fourth week – no charges are cancelled

For courses three to eight weeks in length -  charges are cancelled at the following rates and the student is responsible for paying the balance, if any

  • Prior to second class meeting – 100% of charges
  • Prior to the third class meeting – 60% of charges
  • Prior to the fourth class meeting – 40% of charges
  • After the beginning of the fourth class meeting – no charges are cancelled

For courses less than eight weeks in length - charges are cancelled at the following rates and the student is responsible for paying the balance, if any:

  • Prior to second class meeting – 100% of charges
  • Prior to the third class meeting – 60% of charges
  • After the beginning of the third class meeting – no charges are cancelled

Refund Policies for On-Line Courses
On-Line Registration Fee – Non Refundable
On-Line courses lasting the entire semester have the same refund policy as on-campus courses.
For on-line courses four weeks in length - charges are cancelled at the following rates and the student is responsible for paying the balance, if any:

  • First three days of term – 100% of charges
  • Days four and five of term – 60% of charges
  • Days six and seven of term – 40% of charges
  • After seventh day of term – no charges are cancelled

For on-line courses five weeks in length - charges are cancelled at the following rates and the student is responsible for paying the balance, if any:

  • First three days of term – 100% of charges
  • Days four through six of term – 60% of charges
  • Days seven and nine of term – 40% of charges
  • After ninth day of term – no charges are cancelled

For on-line courses six weeks in length - charges are cancelled at the following rates and the student is responsible for paying the balance, if any:

  • First four days of term – 100% of charges
  • Days five through seven of term – 60% of charges
  • Days eight through ten of term – 40% of charges
  • After tenth day of term – no charges are cancelled

Housing Refund
For students who withdraw from the University

  • Up to and including the first day of classes – 100 % of the  amount paid
  • During the first two weeks of class – 60 % of the amount paid
  • During the third and fourth weeks – 40 % of the amount paid
  • After fourth week – no refund


The Housing deposit of $250 is nonrefundable. 


Meal Plans*: Meal Plan refunds are made on a prorated basis only upon withdrawal from the University or upon withdrawal from University housing, at the option of the student and with concurrence of the University.
*No refund of housing or meal plan fees will be made for weekend absences or meals missed.
 
NOTE: Refunds for students receiving financial aid under Title IV are made according to Public Law 102-325, Section 484B, of the Higher Education Amendments.
