Fulbright Deadline is September 6 for Eastern Seniors and Alumni

Eastern seniors and alumni who are interested in applying for a Fulbright grant for 2020 must submit all materials by 12:00 noon on Friday, September 6, 2019.

The U.S. Fulbright Program provides funding for college graduates to spend 8 to 12 months studying, doing independent research or creative work, or teaching English in another country. The competition currently open is for experiences that would begin on or after Fall 2020. Students and alumni interested in applying should contact Julia DeLapp, Coordinator of the Fellowships Office, as soon as possible.

All materials, including the online application, essays, language evaluations, and transcripts must be submitted through Fulbright’s online portal by noon on September 6th. In addition, letters of recommendation must be sent by email to Julia DeLapp by noon on September 6th. Application materials are then reviewed by Eastern’s Faculty Advisory Committee. Each applicant will be interviewed by the committee on September 11th.

After their interview with the committee, students will have the opportunity to make revisions to their applications prior to Fulbright’s national deadline.

For more information, contact Julia DeLapp (860-465-0687).

Fulbright Competition to Open March 31st

The online application for students wishing to pursue a Fulbright grant will open on March 31st, more than a month earlier than in past years. Fulbright provides opportunities for high-achieving college seniors to apply for funding to spend a year in one of 140 countries around the world after graduation. Fulbright students can spend their year conducting research, pursuing a one-year master’s degree, or serving as an English teaching assistant. It is a wonderful opportunity to learn or improve foreign language skills, develop new knowledge, and gain a life-altering cultural experience.

Applications for Fulbright are due to Eastern’s Fulbright Committee by noon (12:00 pm) on September 14, 2015. Interested students should contact the Fellowships Office as soon as possible. For more information about the Fulbright program, visit the Fulbright website.
