Jamaica 2011 -- Education

During Spring Break 2011, Education Professor David Stoloff and Julisa de Los Santos, housing director for Burnap Hall, led a global field experience to Montego Bay in northwestern Jamaica. The purpose of the visit was to expand partnerships with Jamaican schools for future service-learning projects.

This year’s group of students, which included seven undergraduates studying education as well as sociology, biology, psychology, English and history, visited students and educators in an infant school, a primary school, a junior high school, three high schools, Montego Bay Community College, Sam Sharpe Teachers College and the Jamaican Ministry of Education. The group also had opportunities to enjoy Jamaican culture, food, music, art, and dance and to learn about the aspirations of the Jamaican people. Another global field experience is planned for Spring Break 2012. For more information, contact Professor Stoloff at stoloffd@easternct.edu.
