Parents and Families
Choosing a university is a huge decision, and we’re glad that you and your student chose Eastern! Eastern has become a well-respected and thriving institution and fills a unique niche in Connecticut and New England, thanks to the leadership of President Núñez and the strong commitment of faculty, staff, alumni and friends.
Parents are also critical to Eastern’s success, and if Eastern is making a profound difference in the life of your student, we hope you’ll give something back by supporting the Eastern Parents Fund.
There are a number of avenues for Parents to support the University’s liberal arts mission during the academic year. Here are a few examples:
– Attend an Arts and Lecture series event
– Play in the annual Golf Tournament on June 19th at Lake of Isles Golf Course
– Sponsor a student team on March 4th at the annual Bowlathon
– Help us to establish an internship or co-op for an Eastern student at your place of employment
– Assist with Move-in Day
– Make your annual gift to the Parents Fund and ensure that you receive Eastern magazine all year round!
What is the Eastern Parents Fund?
The Parents Fund raises annual restricted gifts from parents of current students and parents of graduates that help the university enhance facilities as well as the services provided to students. These initiatives typically impact a broad number of undergraduates on a daily basis.
What does the Parents Fund support?
All gifts made to the Parents Fund throughout 2016-2017 will be used to purchase new tables with umbrellas for the patio in front of the Student Center, and to put Adirondack chairs beneath some of the shade trees around campus. Thanks to your Parents Fund gifts, Eastern will be able to create even more places on campus for our students to study, relax, or recharge.
Over the past decade, proceeds from the Parents Fund have been used to fund a project supporting student needs each year. Those projects have included adding computer kiosks in the Student Center, substantially renovating the Burr Hall basement, adding new scoreboards in the Sports Center, creating a Parents’ Park near the Admissions Building and renovating the World Languages and Cultures Lab.
Who selects the Parents Fund project each year?
Key members of the Student Affairs staff make recommendations on potential projects in the Spring to the Vice President for Institutional Advancement and the Vice President for Student Affairs based on feedback from students and student organizations.

Name Your Seat!
Now every parent can honor their student for years to come!
Honor your student by naming a seat for them on campus through the “Name Your Seat” campaign! For as little as $150, you can actually name a seat in honor of your student in any of three campus auditoriums: the Science Building Auditorium, the Student Center Theater, or the Wickware Planetarium.
Find and NAME YOUR SEAT!
If you are interested in assisting in any of the aforementioned areas or would like more information about Parent and Family initiatives, please contact Michael Stenko in the Office of Alumni Affiars at 860.465.4509 or email@example.com
Welcome to Eastern and remember that contribution of time, talent and treasure is needed and will enrich the overall experience for our students. Go Warriors!
