Psi Chi Inductees |

Twenty-seven students were recognized on May 11 for academic excellence in psychology upon their induction into the Psi Chi National Honor Society. Inductees included: Kaitlin Impelluso, Renne Arner, Clinton Bauer, Aimee Beauchemin, Jennifer Lynn Benson, Tricia Berte, Jacqueline Boucher, Amanda Brycki, Sara Cassano, Jennifer Crean, Adriana Del Vento, Kathryn De Napoli, Jennifer Dorau, Lisa Ephraim, Ashley Favello, Deanna Frakovitch, Nina Gioielli, Susan Gush, Melissa Kranz, Jaime Layfulde, Patrick McCoy, Megan Lynn Rinaldi, Meredith Roy, Carl Segura, Rebecca Swiontek, Courtney Tuller, and Olivia Yetter. Assistant Department Chair Peter Bachiochi was named Best Teacher of the Year. Psi Chi was established to encourage, stimulate, and maintain excellence in scholarship, and to advance the science of psychology. The mission of Psi Chi is to recognize well-educated, ethical, and socially responsible students who are committed to the field’s science and profession.

Ten business administration students were inducted into the Delta Omega chapter of the Delta Mu Delta Honor Society on April 29 in the President’s Dining Room. Inductees included Heather Carleton, Renee Bousios, Allen Schmied, Andrea Rosen, Sherrylyn Roy, Michael Santarsiere, Melinda Shama, Jennifer Weed, Stefanie Williams, and Jonathan Wilson. Inductees not present included Lisa Antley, Clarence Chauvin, Cynthia Goodno, Kristen Lamarre, Laura Sawicki, and Chrystal Urbani.
President Carter reminded the inductees that they have an obligation to give back to society, to do for others as others have provided for them. Patricia Kleine, dean of the school of educational and professional studies, cited progress being made in the business administration department – enrollment in the business information systems program has tripled in two years; the American Humanics program has doubled in size; business administration students have one of the highest GPAs in the University; and the accounting department has doubled the number of accounting faculty while adding two master’s degree tracks – as proof that business administration students are receiving an outstanding education.

The Department of Computer Sciences inducted nine students into its honor society, Upsilon Pi Epsilon on April 28. They included Kene C. Adichie, Brandon Blais, Eric Crowley, Marshall Fritz, Matthew Garitta, Jeffrey Shama, Douglas Siggins, David Starkweather and Todd Whitmore.

Mathematics Honor Society Inducts Students

The Mathematics Honor Society of Kappa Mu Epsilon inducted nine Eastern students on April 28, 2005. They were Nichole Caisse, Sheryl Garcia, Katie Hardy, Meaghan Kehoegreen, Erin Quinn, Heather Souza, Michelle Sposato, Jeffrey Weber and Gordon Willey.

Omicron Delta Epsilon (ODE), the Economics Honor Society, inducted 15 students into its ranks on April 28: Jeanne Barrow, Jason K. Bond, Danielle Dalbon, Sarah Anne Desiano, Bruce A. Desmarais, Annmarie E. Fillian, Jasmit K. Florah, Michele Elizabeth Goldfuss, Thayne D. Hutchins Jr., Danielle A. Libera, Paul Miguel Luis, Andriy A. Maksymovych, Claudia Laura Robustelli, Michelle Lynn Safin, and Michael J. Staron. ODE also made Eastern President David G. Carter an honorary member of the society.
