Eastern Inducts First Students into Public Relations Student Society of America

PRSSA “Follow your bliss” was Howard Drescher’s message when addressing 22 newly inducted students into the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) on May 12. “Three factors are shaping the public relations industry today,” said Drescher, public relations director of Windsor-based LIMRA International. “Those factors are technology, globalization, and demographics.”

Drescher discussed how each of these factors are affecting the public relations industry. He also spoke about how a public relations professional should conduct business: “Be willing to learn, have the energy to keep moving forward, and always keep your integrity intact.”

The PRSSA’s purpose is to cultivate a favorable and mutually advantageous relationship between students and professional public relations practitioners. Eastern inductees hope that their involvement in PRSSA will one day lead to a career in public relations. Eastern President Michael Pernal and Public Relations Professor Christopher Ayeni also were on hand to congratulate the inductees.
