•Cornell University Green Purchasing Task Force: The spring of 2004 witnessed the first meetings of a new group of students, faculty and staff interested in increasing and promoting green purchasing practices at Cornell. The GPTF hopes to establish Cornell as a recognized leader in green purchasing among other universities and within the community. They also hope to provide all Cornell University students with an awareness of green purchasing issues and solutions as part of their "Cornell experience". • Rutgers University developed a green purchasing plan that involves purchasing environmental cleaning products, recycled-content paper, low energy and low mercury lighting, recycled plastic lumber, and numerous other environmentally preferable products. The university has also made a deal with Kinko’s which allows students, staff and faculty to have copying jobs on recycled-content paper at a cost either less than or equal to virgin paper costs (depending on whether the job is done on 30% or 100% recycled paper): www.rusustainable.org/show_page.php?page=Purchasing

• University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Business Operations Task Group has initiated a green purchasing program. So far, this new plan includes buying organically grown coffee and educating students as to the availability of environmentally preferable products: sustainability.unc.edu/business.html
