What is our goal?
Our goal is to promote a
broader world view for students that
includes an understanding and appreciation of diversity and
knowledge of other cultures.
How could you benefit from the program?
W.H. Auden 20th-century
English poet said, ''civilization should
be measured by the degree of diversity
attained and the degree of unity retained''. We
at the Student Exchange Office believe that being exposed to various
cultures can be of tremendous benefit to all the students who engage
in this program. An international experience provides
greater personal marketing capabilities for the student
seeking employment, and gives them exposure to
different styles of academic instruction and
training. At the same time it supports
the development of a good working relationship
between Eastern and other universities worldwide.
What are the educational advantages of the
exchange programs?
It opens doors to career
opportunities in other countries and allows the
student to network with prospective employers and associates.
It provides you the opportunity to
experience the lifestyle and other
cultural practices outside of your comfort zone. It is
also an opportunity to share with other students your
insight into American culture and values.
What is your study focus?
Students from all academic major programs
are eligible for the study abroad/exchange programs. Students from the
following programs have recently
participated in an international
experience: Biology, Business Administration, Communications,
Economics, English, Fine Arts, History, Modern
Languages, and Physical Education.
What if the university
or the country you are interested in does not have an existing
program with Eastern?
Each case is handled differently.
If you are interested in attending a specific university
other than those with existing relationships with E.C.S.U., feel
free to contact us in the International Student Exchange Office and
we will do our best to assist you.
How much does it cost to
attend universities who have a student exchange agreement
with Eastern?
It is entirely dependant upon
the specific university of interest. Speak with one of the Study
Abroad personnel and they will be able to assist you with specific details.
What is covered if you participate in a student
exchange program?
The tuition is usually paid at E.C.S.U. Housing
and a meal plan are paid directly to the international university.
How about the cost of attending
a university where a student exchange program has
not been established?
Usually tuition is paid directly
to the university of interest. The fee does
not include housing, or meal plan. Alternative arrangements
need to be made.
