A unique major designed for those students interested in careers in government, public administration, law, public service and business. The major consists of eight political science courses and four skills courses. This configuration of courses is designed to facilitate double majors or minors with such disciplines as Communication Studies, Economics, Business, Public Administration, or Computer Science. The Public Policy & Government major prepares the student either to begin a career upon graduation or to continue education at the graduate level.

Students can use 6 hours of this 36 hour major to satisfy requirements for a second major, minor or general education requirement.

· To earn a Public Policy and Government minor, a student must take 36 credits of Political Science and related skills courses. Seven of the 24 credits may also be used to satisfy either the General Education Requirements or a major when appropriate.

· PSC 210 Research Methods fulfills the Intermediate Writing Competency Requirement. Students completing this course will also receive credit for WRT 050.

· Transfer students who select Public Policy and Government as their major must complete at least 18 political science credit hours at Eastern before graduation. Transfer students who select Public Policy and Government as a minor must complete at least 9 credits at ECSU in the minor before graduation.

Undergraduate Graduation Requirements

· Accumulate an overall grade point average at least 2.0

· Fulfill the General Education Requirements

· Fulfill the requirements for an academic major

· Complete at least 60 credits in courses at the 200-level or above, of which at least 30 credits must be at the 300 or 400 level

· Fulfill the Foreign Language Requirement, unless met upon admission

· Fulfill the University Writing Requirement

· Earn a minimum of 120 credits

· Fulfill the residency requirement
