Major: Sport and Leisure Management (B.S.)
Objective
The BS degree in Sport and Leisure Management provides introductory and advanced courses in sport management, recreation, and leisure studies. It shares a common core of courses with the Physical Education major. Students completing this major will be well prepared for careers in sport management, resort and commercial recreation, employee wellness and fitness programs, and private fitness establishments. This major has a focus on exercise science, health and wellness, and programs of physical training. In addition, it provides a foundation for advanced study in exercise science.
Health/Fitness focus with an emphasis on fitness assessment and training.
Internship Experience
To develop hands-on professional experience and fieldwork skills in leadership, programming, problem solving, communications and interpersonal relationships, students are required to participate in a supervised practicum experience as a culminating experience to the required course work..
Grade Requirement
The grade of "C" or higher must be earned in all Physical Education and all Sport and Leisure Management major and minor courses.
Professional Development
Students majoring in Physical Education or Sport and Leisure Management are required to accumulate ten (10) Professional Development Points each semester before registering for certain upper division practicum courses. |
