| The Eastern Connecticut State University Foundation
(ECSU Foundation, Inc.) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated
to raising funds to support programs at Eastern Connecticut State University.
Incorporated in 1971, The Foundation is directed by a volunteer board of business leaders and civic-minded friends of the University. The Foundation raises funds for a variety of purposes central to the fiscal health and academic needs of the University. Funds raised by The Foundation have become increasingly crucial as state and federal dollars have not kept pace with the growth and costs at Eastern. In fact, state operating support, which was nearly 75 percent of the University's budget two decades ago, has declined dramatically and in 2005 was less than 42 percent. This gap, coupled with the ever-rising costs of operations, makes the work of The Foundation critical to Eastern's success. The philanthropic priorities concentrates on building support for student scholarships and include building support for the University's endowment, and restricted gifts for academic program, The Annual Fund. At Eastern scholarships create that critical margin of difference for students who might otherwise not be able to attend Eastern. Many constituancies support The Foundation, including alumni, parents, faculty and staff, friends, and a growing circle of corporate and foundation donors. You can help The Foundation continue to serve the University and sustain its reputation for excellence by pledging your support today.
