| The Office of Veterans Affairs assists Veterans in obtaining educational benefits that are available to them under the laws administered by the Veterans Administration, under Connecticut State Statutes, and according to Connecticut State University Trustee resolutions. While this office is not connected with the United States Veterans Administration, ongoing communication and cooperation with the Veterans Administration is maintained for processing claims and benefit payments.
Students who are interested in attending Eastern should contact the Office of Veterans Affairs as early as possible in the admission process to determine eligibility criteria for benefits and for tuition waivers. VETERANS EDUCATIONAL BENEFITS AT A GLANCE
If you have enrolled in the Montgomery G.I. Bill Chapter 30 Educational Benefits plan while on active duty or are eligible for Chapter 1606 (National Guard or Reserves), you will find answers to commonly asked questions.
WHEN CAN I START MY BENEFITS?
You may receive MGIB benefits once you've been officially accepted into a degree-seeking program (Matriculated).
I WANT TO USE MGIB WHAT DO I DO NOW?
After Receiving an acceptance letter stop by or call the school's Veterans' Office (860 - 465 - 4434). The VA Office will complete an "Enrollment Certification" (VA form 22-1999) to verify how many credits you are taking and will forward all the necessary paperwork to the regional VA Office for processing which takes about 6 weeks.
