General Construction NoticeEastern Connecticut State University is currently under an aggressive state of improvement throughout the campus. We ask all students, faculty, staff, and visitors to be aware of the surrounding construction and follow all construction signing as it is in place for the safety of our community. PENNY POOL RE-INSTALLATION
Starting this week our contractor will start installing the penny pool that existed in the Student Center courtyard area. We are locating the penny pool in a new location. It will be located in the sidewalk between the Student Center parking lot and Woods/Goddard Hall. The project will be improving upon the old penny pool by using natural stone to surround the pool, similar to the wall by the Media Center. In addition to the stone, we will be installing stamped concrete around the pool as well.
The new location will introduce a natural landscape element into an area where there is minimal landscaping and break-up the long, straight sidewalk that exists. The new location will also provide a symmetric element for the penny drop that occurs at Convocation and Commencement. Please refer to the plan below for a schematic of the proposed location. Please note that this sidewalk will be closed for approximately two to three weeks for construction.
RADIO STATION DECK PROJECT
Starting this week a new exterior deck will be constructed on the west side of the Media Center (facing the Sports Center parking lot). The new deck will serve to compliment the new radio station that is being constructed in Media 110. The deck will be constructed of pressure treated timber and synthetic decking material. Please refer to the plan and elevation below.
