The Faculty Development Committee is composed of four members and two alternates from the full-time instructional faculty and one member and one alternate from the full-time administrative faculty. In no case shall there be more than one member from any academic department. Committee members were nominated and elected at-large from among the full-time instructional and administrative faculty under the supervision of the Organization Committee of the University Senate. The term of office for each member is three years, with members elected on a rotating basis. The Faculty Development Committee proposes policies to promote faculty development to the University Senate through the Personnel Policies Committee; shall conduct ongoing assessments of faculty development activities; shall provide advice to the Vice President of Academic Affairs; and shall provide a report of its activity to the University Senate at least once each semester.
The primary tasks of the Faculty Development Committee are 1) planning and organization of the Lunch & Learn Form 2) planning and organization of the Research and Creativity Forum and 3) evaluation of the Faculty Development Grants.
Both the Lunch & Learn(L&L) and Research and Creativity Forum(RCF) series are opportunities to present and discuss new and ongoing research with your colleagues across the disciplines. All topics are appropriate for either series, but L&L draws a larger, more diverse audience (thus, the presentations are geared toward an informed and intelligent audience, but not necessarily conversant with your particular field).
The RCF is a smaller affair and tends to be more discipline specific and technical. Traditionally RCF presentations have been made on Tuesday at 12:30pm and by faculty. Requests for proposals for presentations of both L&L and RCF forums usually are sent out via email within the first month of eachFall semester.
Proposal submission forms are also located under "Forms" form this webpage and should be completed and forwarded via email to Dr. David Belles in the Performing Arts Department. Scheduled L&L and RCF forums can be located by clicking on the links above.
