What is YES?
Young Educators' Society
The YES program originated in 1991 as an effort of the Capitol Region Education Council (CREC) in Hartford, CT to revitalize future teacher club development in the region and to diversify the teacher pool.  This initial intent was extended to address anticipated teacher shortages in the new century  by having Connecticut
"grow our own " teachers. Clubs are school-based,  teacher mentored programs offered to students in grades 5-12 with a particular emphasis on recruiting minorities into the field of teaching due to the under representation in the current teacher pool.

How do I join?
Contact your guidance counselor or career services office or activities director to find out if there is a future teacher club or Young Educators' Society in your school. If there is no club currently, a chapter of YES can be established.
