Art Websites for Students and Teachers
compiled by Susan Clark

Here are some web sites I found interesting and full of potential for art students and
teachers!  There are sites that are mostly educational and sites that are mostly commercial.  The
sites that are commercial try to throw some education in here and there too.

educational sites

 Getty Online Exhibitions.url

The main index for this terrific resource is listed below.  The online shows are
fabulous, especially visit the two shows on kids art!  I included the list of  current
shows and the direct address.  The art ed site you can access directly with the address
below or through the main index.  There are lots of creative ideas complete with
lesson plans for DBE.

5. ART
Art.url  http://art.thelinks.com/
This is not my favorite of all the sites but it has some pretty off-beat stuff.  Check out
their ³art and technology² link and the link to a kind of cartoonist in Turkey.

6. Art Net
I liked this Commercial site.  It has a chat room and email.  I bought some books at
their book store.  The book store had good images of the books, pictures of the cover
and two inside pages.  I bought a book on the Plains Indians that was ³listed ³ at $23
and sold to me for $15 .  Watch out though cause shipping two books was $5    This
site also linked to a good auction site with good art images from private collections.

7. World Wide Arts Resources -.url
I think that the blurb claiming to be the ³only definitive² is a bit far reaching, but
this is a pretty comprehensive site.  Check out Supplies!
http://wwar.com/
World Wide Arts Resources offers the only definitive, interactive gateway to all
exemplars of qualitative arts information and culture on the Internet. Artists,
museums, galleries, art history, arts education, antiques, performing arts ranging from
dance to opera, classified ads, resume postings, arts chat, discussion forums and more.
Services Arts News, Free Classified, Arts Chat, Discussions, Art E-Postcards, Resume
Postings.

8.Next Monet .com
This site is not yet in full operation but I think it bears watching.  Backed by a major
company these people are planning to put good contemporary art for sale on the
Internet.  They will be attending the College Art Association conference looking for
people.  They say they are going to put hundreds of artists on their site.  They say
that each one will be visited in their studios!  I find it hard to believe that some guy
is going to show up in the Hamlet of Washington CT. to check my studio.  But
wouldn¹t it be great for art if people all over could see each others work.  Great for
secondary art students.

I also found a group of sites that is great as a resource for a larger perspective of culture.

9. AFRICAN ART: AESTHETICS AND MEANING
This site had large very clear images of African works, Bravo.  Bravo also for the
Elements of the African Aesthetic.
