    The Daniel A. P. Murray Pamphlet Collection presents a panoramic and eclectic review
    of African-American history and culture, spanning almost one hundred years from the
    early nineteenth through the early twentieth centuries, with the bulk of the material
    published between 1875 and 1900. Among the authors represented are Frederick
    Douglass, Booker T. Washington, Ida B. Wells-Barnett, Benjamin W. Arnett,
    Alexander   Crummel, and Emanuel Love.

African American History: Welcome
    This project documents a selection of important events in African American history,
    beginning   with the Dred Scott case in 1857 and ending with the implementation of school
    desegregation plans in the1970s. The text is entirely original, culled from various school

   Summary: Although Ida Wells-Barnett was a well-known journalist in her time, she is more
   remembered for her anti-lynching campaigns. She actively fought racism all her life, even
   biting the hand of a train conductor that tried to get her to sit in the "blacks-only" section.
