Summer Institute for Future Teachers 2000 (SIFT IV)
Educational Technology Modules

Ten percent of your grade for EDU 101 - Teaching in the 21st Century - will be derived from your achievement in the educational technology modules.

There will be 4 tasks in these modules -

1) send an email message to Dr. Stoloff at stoloffd@mail.ecsu.ctstateu.edu introducing yourself by describing your educational setting - your school and grade in Fall 2000,
the kinds of courses you take and what you are most interested in, and
your plans for the future.  Please make sure that you type your name at the bottom of the email.

[We will be applying for email accounts on Yahoo the first session.  You will be getting ECSU mail accounts during the second week in July.]

This assignment is worth 2 points.

2) Participate in Learning Plus by working on all of the related tests.  This assignment is worth 3 points - if you complete all of the tests.  The score will also be taken into consideration.

3) Create a webpage on a topic of your choice that you might use for teaching in a future classroom.  Have at least 10 websites on your page.  See http://www.easternct.edu/depts/edu/sift/sift00/ for examples.  This assignment is worth 2 points.

Steps for developing this assignment.

a) Use a search engine to find at least 10 websites on a topic you might teach in a future classroom.

b) Create a bookmark list of these sites.

c) Save a copy of your list on your disk.

d) Edit your list using Netscape Composer.  Annotate the links, describing why you would use it in your class.

e) Save your webpage on your disk.  Send stoloffd@mail.ecsu.ctstateu.edu a copy of your webpage as an HTML attachment - in Yahoo and most mail - the steps are
edit attachments,
browse for your file on the A: drive,
attach the file,
send it.

4) Create a Power Point presentation.  This assignment is worth 3 points.
