Course Description: Provides a basis for use of computers in educational settings. (3 credits)

2) At least three 3.5" diskette IBM compatible, high density (HD).

Goal 1.0:  To develop proficient computer skills

Goal 2.0:To develop skills in curriculum development and research using the Internet and the World Wide Web. You will be creating an electronic portfolio of your class assignments. Please save your assignments on an IBM formatted diskette readable in CB 307 with the name of the assignments followed by your name. In addition, your portfolio should include a self-assessment file addressing all your projects, see
1) develop an electronic textbook with at least 20 links to educational resources, annotated into a running narrative - linked to homepage (30 points)

 2) create a homepage to identify an educational setting with at least two graphics  and links to at least 10 other educational resources, saved on disk ( 30 points),

 3) evaluation of ten (10) software packages for their uses in curriculum and instruction.  Results published on class's evaluation web page and saved on class disk (20 points),

 4) creation of  a  unit plan for incorporating software into the curriculum--linked to homepage (15 points),

 5) creation of storyboard.  This will be a hard copy (30 points),

 6) survey of 2 educators on their uses of educational technology.  Email results to instructor (15 points),

 7) creation of a spreadsheet with at least two formulas (10 points)

8) creation of a data base (10 points).

9) creation of a class "Best Educational Web Sites" (due by midterm) (10 points),

10) electronic bibliography of _______ (your choice of subject matter) integrating computer applications in education-linked to homepage (20 points).

11) Cognitive-partnerships: Project presentations (30pts).

12) Professionalism:  Active participation, attendance, punctuality, positive contribution to the learning environment, use of APA format when applicable (20 points)

 13) Final:  Presentation overview of completed assignments using MS Powerpoint (presentation should include internal and external links along with links to the WWW)
and submission of electronic portfolio (portfolio should include self assessments of each project Technology Compentencies for Connecticut Educators , cognitive-partnership summary/self evaluation,and APA written technology plan (30 points) or

 14) Optional final exam (20 points).

 Accumulating 270 points earns an A, 240 or more is a B, ....
