from Dean Kleine and Bob Horrocks, Chair, HPE Department
The Clark County School District in Las Vegas, Nevada, is the fastest growing school district in the country. During the 1998-1999 school year, we hired over 1,800 teachers with an attrition rate of less than five percent. Our community is continuing its steady growth and we anticipate that 1999-2000 will be another banner hiring year.
We are aware of Eastern Connecticut State University College of Education's reputation and would like to have the opportunity to interview your seniors who are currently student teaching and also your alumni. Unfortunately, we will be unable to visit your campus in person this year; however, we would like to loan a videophone to you so that we may interview those who are interested in teaching in the Las Vegas area.
If you are interested in giving your students and alumni the opportunity
to interview with the Clark County School District, please respond to this
message by e-mail to brownem@interact.ccsd.net or call Eva at (702) 799-1019.
We will then schedule a date for the interviews and make arrangements to
send you a videophone. We have developed a flyer located at http://www.ccsd.net/HRD/fliers/general1.htm
about our district that we invite you to print on legal size paper
and post should you take advantage of this opportunity.
Students or alumni who wish to know more about our district may access
the Clark County School District's Pattern for Performance document on
our web site at http://www.ccsd.net/HRD/fliers/general2.htm.
We would also like the opportunity to make a presentation to your students who are enrolled in your practicums, other pre-student teaching programs, and student teaching seminars. We have dedicated video conferencing equipment that we use to make presentations to groups in the distance learning facilities. Please let us know if you are interested in this additional opportunity.
Finally, if you have a database of students who are or will be seeking employment as teachers, we would like to make arrangements to obtain a copy, preferably in electronic format. Hard copies can be sent to the address below, or electronic files can attached and sent to Eva. We would like to invite all of your students to consider the Clark County School District for future employment opportunities.
Thank you very much for your assistance and for your interest in placing your students,
Sincerely,
Dr. George Ann Rice
