Welcome to the Fourth Week of the Spring 1999 Semester.

Message from Pat Kucharski -
1. The third week freeze takes place on 2/17/99 at 12 midnight.
Students have
up until that deadline to submit internships, independent studies,
and practica
forms. [Joan Rice adds - Hi; Just a reminder that these
approvals are due in to us no later than
Feb. 16 so that I can have them entered by the 17th, our 3rd week freeze."]
2. Please remind your students (and adjuncts, too) that our long
holiday
weekend occurs this week beginning 2/12 through 2/15. Although
the academic
calendar was revised to reflect this change, some brochures, bulletins,
etc.
may incorrectly indicate the following weekend as the holiday.
Thank you for your attention to these important reminders.

Invitation from Leslie Ricklin to attend PRAXIS II WORKSHOP,

"You may be interested in the following announcement from
the SDE about the PRAXIS II test that your students have to take to
complete their certification requirements. The workshops are
scheduled
for APRIL 29 (Thursday) at ACES in Hamden. They are limited to
60
people per session (8:30-12:00, 12:30-4) so individuals need to sign
up
soon. The fly in the ointment is that they are charging $40 per
person. I have put in a request of Dean Kleine for funding but
haven't
heard yet. David Stoloff is planning on going from our department
and I
hope that either you and/or members of your department will want to
go.
Our students are taking these tests and we need to know all we can
about
them. If you're interested, please let me know so that I can
tell the
Dean how much $ we'll need. Thanks,
Leslie Ricklin
