Words of Inspiration

the collection appears at http://www.easternct.edu/depts/edu/news/words.html

A dear friend once tried to show a view,
to learn of times we go through,
the seasons pass.. then again return,
giving us then the time to renew.
...
Summer's heat .. and inner fires,
burning season of desires,
flames that can devour our spirits,
as we travel deep within it.
...
Moving through the time between,
soon the cooling time is seen,
a time to gather past season's harvest,
ground prepared for soon rest will be upon us.
...
Fall's colors stir the deep reminders,
leaves dancing around to winds of change,
seeds planted their fruit a vision,
coming to us with each division.
...
Winters deep stirring.. seen look back,
journeys into the near distant past,
feelings frozen and centered in pain,
places I didn't want to visit again.
...
In this place of deep meditation,
as we slumber at time in agitation,
reaching into the harvest of spirit,
allowing ourselves the time to hear it.
...
The sun is warm today,
promise of spring seems here to stay,
from the garden whispers a song..
beckons me ... stay .. belong.
...
Sheltered beneath arms outspread..
of trees who in their depths..
know of the heartbeat of our mother..
and with us share each and every hour.
...
Their silence reaches so deep in my being..
then spreads out beyond my seeing..
in spirit do I join the song..
in the dance of time I do belong
...

1)   Don’t Miss this Special Event

At no other time in history has it been as important for teachers to be familiar with the culture and history of the Middle East.  Preparing students to develop an understanding of diverse societies is a critical component of their educational preparation and one that demands greater and greater knowledge on the part of their teachers.

You will be able to develop such knowledge in a workshop designed to familiarize attendees with the history, cultural geography, and much more, of the Arab World.  The workshop will take place on the Eastern Connecticut State University campus on Tuesday, November 18th, from 9:00 am until 3:30 pm.  There is no charge for the workshop itself, however there will be a $15.00 fee for teachers wishing to earn CEU’s from their participation.  A box lunch can also be requested at a cost of $8.00.  Because the time for lunch is very short, participants are encouraged to take advantage of the box lunch availability.  Because of space limitations the registration deadline is November 3rd.  Contact Shirley Ernst (465-4530) for more information or download the flyer at
http://www.easternct.edu/depts/edu/news/awair.doc .

Web site: www.covect.org David – Thank you for the “Circle of Life” website. I want to add a resource that I hope you will share with your faculty and students. The Cove Center for Grieving Children serves children and their families who have experienced the death of an immediate family member. Children participate in developmentally appropriate groups with other children who have had similar experiences and parents receive support and education about the unique nature of children’s grief. Our founders, James and Mary Ann Emswiler have written a seminal text for adults who are in relationship with grieving children and it is called “Guiding Your Child through Grief.” Feel free to contact me for more information at TheCove@earthlink.net or visit our website at www.covect.org. My husband, Joe Freeman, is organizing the development of a Cove in the Windham area and anyone who would like to help with this effort can reach him at 860 429-4477. Thanks, Ruth
