Planning for the School of Education and Professional Studies Student Exhibition - Saturday, May 5, 1-5

Dean Kleine and the Department Chairs in our School are developing a Student Exhibition for Saturday, May 5, 1-5.  While reviewing the comprehensive exams, please be on the lookout for

1) nominees for Outstanding Comprehensive exam - perhaps 3 from ECE, 3 from R/LA, 3-4 from Elementary Education and Science Education.  These nominees would be invited to present their portfolios before a panel of external judges on May 5 who would select the Outstanding Portfolio for each of the graduate programs for 2001.  We should consider including outstanding portfolio from Fall 2000 in this selection process.

2) evidence of our graduate students' classroom children's achievement for inclusion in our NCATE document - particularly for the Elementary Education folio.

Please let's discuss further these plans for the Student Exhibit in our Unit meetings and at the Graduate Studies Committee.

Online Educational Department meeting minutes and Departmental Goals for 2000-2001 are available at http://www.easternct.edu/depts/edu/dept/deptminutes0001.html

The notes from the NCATE Writers' meetings have been posted at http://www.easternct.edu/depts/edu/ncate/ncatenotes.html.
The Teacher Education Organizational Chart is available as a WORD document in the NCATE folder in the faculty COMMON folder on the Z: drive.

I have scheduled an Open Forum with faculty from 9:30 to 11:30 in the Library Community Room, and am soliciting your support. Please encourage your faculty to attend this forum for the entire 2 hours, or any portion of this time. Faculty have been sent an invitation, so they have been informed of this session specifically set aside for faculty. I am also hoping you will be able to attend this forum.
