"THIS HOLIDAY SEASON .......... RELAX
1. Ask family members to put into writing the things they
enjoy the
most about the holidays. Post everyone’s list.
Discuss the lists. Put your energy into the experiences
that elicit meaning and joy for each family member and
let go of the rest.
2. Talk about past holidays. What worked? What didn’t? Start new traditions; let go of the ones that are long on work and short on meaning.
3. Do less. Spend less. Enjoy more.
4. Give of yourself to help others. This makes for a memorable family project. Consider adopting a family; visit or call someone who may be lonely; volunteer with the Salvation Army, a homeless shelter, or a local community center like Martha O’Bryan.
5. Take good, good care of yourself.
? Begin and end each day with prayer.
? Get enough sleep.
? Eat when you’re hungry; stop when you’re full. Be selective;
avoid the junk that you don’t love (i.e., forget the green Jello,
bad chocolates, greasy chips, tasteless cookies, and fruitcake).
? Find a way, every day, to get at least one 30-minute or two 15-minute
sessions of brisk exercise.
6. Balance your time commitments so you have some time alone as well as time with others. Make some time to do nothing.
7. Listen more, talk less.
8. Identify predictable sources of stress and decide in advance how to cope with them. Allow extra time for all errands. Plan for the heavy traffic by listening to your favorite holiday music while riding in the car. Try to avoid the most crowded shopping times.
9. Read something inspirational every day to remind yourself what the holidays (and life) are really about. Make time each day to reflect on your blessings.
10. Focus on the real meaning ---the joy, peace, and love--- of the season. How can you and your family experience the joy, savor the peace, and share the love? Decide what is really important and choose the traditions which you value.
THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HARD WORK!!!
WISHING YOU A RELAXING / REJUVENATING HOLIDAY"
