We were blessed with a baby boy on 9th Nov at 4:00 PM. Baby weighs 7lbs 5 oz. and is 21 inches tall. Both Sudha and the Baby are doing fine.
Congratulations to the entire family on this wonderful arrival.

1) Changing the name of the "outstanding student teacher" award to "outstanding student in education" award. This topic came up at a recent meeting of the univ. coordinators.
2) Involving more full time faculty in student teacher supervision.
3) 2003 Certification Regulations and other departments' faculty's advisement
4) Evolving model for educational experience supervision

Seeking Advice about Teacher Certification and Education Programs at ECSU
Here are several opportunities to learn more about Education at ECSU:
I. Participate in an advisement meeting on certification programs at ECSU on
Wednesday, December 6, 2000, 3-3:55 pm
in the Johnson Community Room (LIB 204)
in the Smith Library, ECSU
Following this session, from 4 - 6 pm, there will be a presentation on changes in certification requirements by a Connecticut State Department of Education official which you might also find informative. Refreshments will be served, sponsored by Dean Kleine, School of Education and Professional Studies.
II. Visit the Education Department Office, WH 124, and request general information about the certification program(s) in which you are interested.
III. Make an appointment to speak with the Ed. Dept's Admission Advisor, Ms. Joan Culpin, in WH 124, by calling 465-5236.
IV. Participate in an Evening on Teacher Education programs at ECSU, sponsored by WSA and Crandall's Resident Assistants, Monday, November 27, 7 - 8 pm, Crandall Hall first floor lounge.

Open House for All Students Interested in Teacher Education
All students interested in Teacher Education at ECSU should attend an Open House by the Education Department on Wednesday, December 6, 3-3:55 in the Johnson Community Room, LIB 204. Refreshments will be served sponsored by Dean Kleine, School of Education and Professional Studies.
Following this advisement session, two representatives from the Connecticut State Department of Education will be available to discuss certification regulations and the BEST (Beginning Educator Support and Training) Program from 4-6 pm. Upcoming Meetings and Conferences
Reports on literacies and literacy strategies in Australia
and New Zealand
On Wednesday, December 6, ECE 420 students will be sharing reports
on literacies and literacy strategies from New Zealand and Australia.
From 9:45 to 10:45 the "Australia" groups will be sharing/presenting.
There will be a break from 10:45 until 11:00. From 11:00 to
12:00 the "New Zealand" groups will put on their presentation.
These sessions will take place in LIB 204 - the Johnson Community Room.
Open House for all Students Considering Teacher Education - Wednesday, December 6, 3 - 3:55, LI 204 - Johnson Community Room. Followed by a presentation on certification issues by a State Department of Education representative. Please see Dr. Sakofs for more details on this event.
