Lesson Plan: Navigating Around The United States

Objectives:  By the end of this lesson the learner will be able to plan a vacation.  This will include being able to calculate the milage, determine how long the trip will take and what stops are necessary.  The learner will be able to understand and demonstrate an understanding that he/she needs to take money into consideration for things such as food, gas lodging etc. This will help teach the individual how to budget his/her money and to be responsible

Plan/Asignment: Each student will establish a geographical point from which to start his/her trip from using mapquest  http://www.mapquest.com/
 
 
Once the student has established a starting point he/she will then pick a point within the United States that he/she would like to visit. The student will use the following website in order to obtain the information necessary to plan out much of the trip.

 The students will need to obtain things such as hours the trip will take, prices of hotels and any other things that they feel might be involved with  their trip .

Purpose:  The intent of this lesson is to give students a general knowledge of how to navigate on the information superhighway.
Once the students have learned how to navigate they will be able to plan out a vacaation/trip and have a general knowledge of how to budget for the trip and things such as how much time will they need to take off of work.
 

 Assesment:  Each student will be required to give a presentation to the class using any information and or visuals they determine necessary and or helpful.
