Grade Level: 7-8
Subject: Language Arts / Educational Technology / Audio Visual
Duration: 2-3 50 minute periods
Objective: To develop written, verbal, and visual communication
skills using technology
Materials: computers, word processing software, Video Camera, Tri-pod, construction paper, glue, old boxes, containers, tape, markers
Procedures:
? Teacher demonstrates word processing software, students are paired
up
? Conduct an advertising relay using word processing software, name
a product and have the students enter its slogan
? Have the students create their own products and their own jingles
for their products using word-processing software
? Have students create their own packaging for their products
? Have students write, set up (using word processing software) and
star in their own television commercials for their products while other
students are filming them
Assessment: Participation and level in which student participated in the activity - Behavior during use of computers and other equipment will also be considered for assessment.
Closure: Students’ commercials will be shown to parents during
conferences as well as be displayed on video yearbook.
