Announcements
l Leslie Ricklin announced that they need to select a professor for CSU Professor Committee. Individuals and departments are invited to make nominations.
l Nominations for Distinguished Faculty Member Award are due by March 8th, 2002.
l Title II Teacher Quality Enhancement Grant Conference is on March 8, 2002. Jeanelle Bland, Hari Koirala, and David Stoloff are attending.
l Nominations are needed for Phi Delta Kappan Award.
l There is career fair on March 16th
l Bowlathon is on March 16th. David Stoloff’s family is supporting two teams.
l 11th Annual Children’s Literature Festival is on Saturday, April 6th. Pamphlets have gone out. It is going to be a busy day on campus because of other on-campus events.
l School of Education and Professional Studies Excellence Expo is on April 27, 2002. Portfolios are arriving tomorrow. There are 12 elementary portfolios and 7 elementary portfolios.
l Ann Gruenberg moved to approve the minutes of January 31, 2002. Dan Rothermel seconded. Conceptual framework and bylaws will be attached to the minutes. Motion approved unanimously.
l World Language Certification Program was approved unanimously. Motion made by Leslie Ricklin, seconded by Jeanelle Bland
l Revised 30 credit MS in Elementary Education Program was approved by all except one vote. Leslie Rickilin moved to approve the program, Delar Singh seconded.
l Revised 30 credits, MS in Education Technology program was approved unanimously. Delar Singh moved to approve the program, Mitch Sakof seconded it.
l EDU 509, 1 credit Field Experience will have CR/NCR grading. Hari Koirala moved to approve the proposal, Ken Dobush seconded.
l Leslie Ricklin moved to approve the minutes of February 7, 2002 faculty meeting. with minor corrections. Richard Reynolds seconded. Motion approved unanimously.
l CARE is currently piloting GPA waiver policy. It is a mechanism to allow exceptional students in the program who do not meet GPA requirement. It is to strengthen the program and not weaken it. It will be piloted for a year and then revisited in 2003.
l Technology Committee has prioritized list for equipment for next three years. Colored laser printer is the first priority
l Early Childhood Program is in the process of transitioning from old system to new. Technology grant has been renewed. Thanks to Jeff Trawick-Smith for providing leadership.
l Ken Dobush and Mitch Sakofs will serve on Budget Committee.
l State visit is on April 16th.
l Mitch has Diversity Workshop digital film, it will be used for NCATE/State visit.
l There is potential for Eastern to be involved in partnership grants
l Next Unit meeting is in two weeks from today. We need to go over spring 2003 schedule.
l David Stoloff has funds to hire students for Institute for future teachers to work with technology
l David Stoloff was elected department chair.
