Faculty Meeting, January 31, 2002
Present: David Stoloff (Chair), Shirley Ernst, Richard Reynolds, Leslie Ricklin, Hari Koirala, Ann Gruenberg, Jeff Trawick-Smith, Dan Rothermel, Ken Dobush, Diane Cerreto, Mitch Sakofs, Jeanelle Bland, Theresa Picard, Delar Singh
The meeting called to order at 12:30 by D. Stoloff.
Reports
· Associate Dean Dr. Kim Freeland was invited in the meeting, who thanked everyone for their hard work on NCATE efforts. She also informed that the Connecticut Board of Higher Education will visit our department in May. It appears that there will be some NCATE representatives during that visit.
· J. Bland updated about the requirement for formative and summative assessments. Faculty members are requested to provide student works for the document room. It was also decided that a common folder will be created for full faculty vita.
· D. Stoloff distributed the web publishing forms and encouraged everyone to publish in the web.
Motions Passed
· L. Ricklin moved to approve the Education Department's theme--WE CARE (We at Eastern Connecticut State University Create Articulate, Reflective Educators). D. Rothermel seconded. Motion approved unanimously.
· D. Rothermel moved to approve the Education Department's ByLaws. A. Gruenberg seconded. It was decided to add the "Assessment Committee" in the list of the department standing committees. Motion approved unanimously.
· L. Ricklin moved to approve the Education Department's Conceptual Framework. J. Bland seconded. Motion approved unanimously.
· M. Sakofs updated about the status of the mini-conference and moved to hold it in Fall Semester 2002. J. Trawick-Smith seconded. Motion passed unanimously.
· L. Ricklin moved to approve the minutes of January 24, 2002 with minor corrections. D. Rothermel seconded. Motion approved unanimously.
The meeting was adjourned at 1:35 p.m.
