About CultureQuest --
Please consider exploring and joining the CultureQuest consortium.
"CultureQuest involves students and teachers engaged in inquiry-based classroom projects that explore other peoples and cultures. Projects are rooted in students' questions and interests and involve the focused, intensive study of one or more aspects of the art, music, history, literature, religion, values, daily life, customs and traditions of other cultures. Students' completed work becomes part of class websites, which may be accessed at this site. CultureQuest seeks to promote better understanding and appreciation of other cultures, strengthen inquiry, research and literacy skills and provide students with technology skills for the 21st century." (from the CultureQuest homepage at http://culturequest.us/ ).
The CultureQuest Consortium is an evolving network of teacher education programs in Vermont, Connecticut, Kansas, and Michigan in the US and India, Japan and Sweden outside the US.
CultureQuest was created at the Center for School Development of the School of Education, The City College of the City University of New York. It was initially supported through a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities. Additional support was received from JPMorganChase, the USDOE's PT3 Program, the New York State Education Department, and the America India Foundation. Contact us if you think you are able to start a CultureQuest Program in your city, state or country. PT3NOW has recognized it as a best practice in technology integration." (from the CultureQuest homepage at http://culturequest.us/ ).
