The mission of the Child and Family Development Resource Center is to promote the positive development of young children of diverse cultural and economic backgrounds and to serve as a model program for future teachers and early childhood professionals.
Eastern’s approach combines child-focused educational experiences with comprehensive family services available in the Center. Social service, health services, parenting counseling, nutrition, and health/mental health services provide a seamless support system for participating families. The curriculum is family oriented, recognizing the central role parents play in their children’s development. This state-of-the-art facility provides opportunities for early childhood educators throughout Connecticut. Eastern faculty and the teachers of the Center will model best practices and provide research outcomes that will be shared with early childhood professionals, social services, and government agencies dealing with children and family issues. The Center serves 90 families. (75 preschool and 15 infant and toddler) We are currently enrolling part-time and full-time preschool classes. The Center is open from 7:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Monday-Friday For more information contact Theresa Lawrence at 860-465-5225 or 860-465-5270.
