Career Counseling
Assists students in clarifying career goals, exploring options, examining interests, values, and talents. Self-assessment is an essential element in the career development process.
Senior Appointments
An individual appointment with a counselor which provides an overview of the Department's services, as well as an assessment of the job search needs of the senior. Call the office for an appointment.
FOCUS
A web based comprehensive career planning program that assists students in the career exploration and planning process.
Cooperative Education
Offers students with a minimum of 30 credits the opportunity to test career choices, apply theory to real work situations, and experience a professional work environment prior to graduation. Click here to see a detailed description of the ECSU Coop program.
Workshops
Workshops are offered throughout the academic year that focus on career exploration information, assistance with resume and interview preparation, job search techniques, and dress information. A schedule is available in the Career Services Office. Click here for current listings of workshops.
Career Resources
A small collection of hardbound books and video resources including literature on professional associations, employer directories, and career guidance publications. A wide range of publications and graduate school information are available in the career information center located in the J. Eugene Smith Library.
Resume Review
Department staff review and offer constructive feedback on resume, cover letter, and graduate school essay drafts. Students and Alumni can also post their resume on our web-based job posting site, which then becomes available for employers to access online. To post your resume on-line, Click here.
On Campus Interviews
The Department sponsors companies annually for on-campus interview visits, which are open to graduating seniors, and alumni on a space available basis. Contact the Department for procedures. Click here for on campus recruiting schedule.
On Campus Recruiting
Workshops, On- Campus Interviews and Full-Time Job Listings are offered throughout the academic year which are designed to assist students with practical information on resumes and cover letter writing, interviewing techniques, job search strategies, getting experience through cooperative education, business etiquette, and other career-related issues. The Department also sponsors employers for on-campus interview visits. This service is open to graduating seniors, co-op candidates as well as alumni on a space available basis. Mock Interviews
Counseling staff will conduct a videotaped practice interview, with playback critique of nonverbal behaviors and interview question responses. Contact the office for an appointment.
