Short biography
Dr. Cavarkapa received his
undergraduate degree in economics at the University of
Sarajevo. He completed an intensive executive program at the International
Marketing Institute and Tufts University in Boston in 1977. He
received his M.B.A. with a concentration in Marketing at the
University of Sarajevo in 1980.
He was a Fulbright Scholar in the Doctoral program at the Wharton School
of the University of Pennsylvania in 1982/83. He
earned his Ph.D. in 1989 from the University of
Sarajevo. He taught as an Assistant Professor at the University of Sarajevo from
1988-1991, a Visiting Alexander Hamilton Assistant Professor at the
University of Oklahoma, College of Business from August 1991 to December
1992, and a Visiting Fulbright Professor at the University of Pennsylvania
Wharton School from 12/1992 to August, 1993. He has been teaching at
Eastern since 1993. In the past he has been an Assistant Chairman and
since August 2003 he is a Chairman of the department of Business
Administration at ECSU. He is a member of different professional
organizations including Association of Marketing Theory and Practice,
American Marketing Association, Association for Canadian Studies in the
U.S.

Marketing, Sales Management, International Marketing,
Marketing Research
Research areas:
Dr Cavarkapa's research and consulting work has been
in the areas of international marketing , advertising, and market
research. He is serving as the reviewer for several academic journals and
professional conferences. He received two awards for outstanding papers at
marketing conferences and an award for outstanding service as track chair
for the Association of Marketing Theory and Practice. He published
articles in various marketing jounals in Europe and the United States.
