Degree Requirements (BS and BA)
To graduate with a degree in biology, students must have a minimum of 2.0 cumulative GPA in required biology courses. No science or mathematics courses required for the Biology major may be taken on a credit/no credit basis. At least six of the required biology courses with laboratory for the major must be taken at Eastern. Each year, all biology majors must take the biology comprehensive exam given in the spring semester. Performance of graduating seniors on the biology comprehensive examination will be noted on their respective transcripts. Students majoring in biology are exempt from the University's LAC Natural Sciences Tier I and Tier II courses.
Students planning to enter graduate and professional schools should enroll in the BS program. Students should also be aware that some laboratory and field positions pay less to those with a BA than to those with a BS degree.
