![]() Photographic log of Andover core showing (a) organic rich lacustrine mud of Unit III, underlying mix of mud, wood chips and sand (Unit II), and basal fluvial sediments (Unit I). Unit I consists of a package of three fining-upwards beds of medium to coarse sand indicative of fluvial deposition. Unit II includes mixed sand, finer-grained mud and large organic fragments that is interpreted to reflect the incorporation of organic detritus atter following damming and submergence of the stream in 1927. Unit III consists of fine-grained organic rich lacustrine gyttja. A stratigraphic log for the core may be viewed from this link.
