The Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) promotes the psychological well-being and personal achievement and growth of Eastern’s students. CAPS services are provided at no charge to undergraduate and graduate students registered for the semester in which they are seeking services. The Center offers individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, psychiatric evaluations and medication management. The Center provides consultation to faculty and staff regarding any questions or concerns about students. In addition, the Center conducts outreach services for the University’s community which include presentations/trainings on a variety of topics related to college-based mental health issues and student development.
The Center’s staff includes licensed psychologists, licensed clinical social worker, and advanced graduate level trainees. The Counseling Service staff possesses knowledge and expertise in a broad range of problems that university students typically and frequently encounter. The staff can also facilitate referrals to other professionals or mental health agencies in the community when necessary. CAPS is located at 182 High Street (Main Office), with additional offices in The Grant House on the corner of High and Prospect Streets. The Main Office is open Mondays through Fridays, 8 am to 5 pm, with Counselors being available 8:30-4:30
